NM Poison Prevention Month 2020

Poison prevention saves lives!

Because poisonings are the leading cause of unintentional injury deaths in New Mexico, the New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center (NMPDIC) designated the entire month of March as New Mexico Poison Prevention Month (NMPPM).

Our Center leads a massive campaign, with the help and support of our partners and fellow New Mexicans, every March that includes a calendar full of fun and educational events. Our 2020 theme is, Focusing on Our Families. Our weekly foci are as follows:

  1. March 2nd - 6th, Focusing on Our Families I
  2. March 9th - 13th, Focusing on Our Pharmily
  3. March 16th - 20th, Focusing on Our Community Families
  4. March 23rd - 27th, Focusing on Our Furmilies

Please do join us in our mission to promote poison prevention education. Get involved in NMPPM 2020 - you won't regret it! Here is how you can make a difference this year:

National Poison Prevention Week

In 1961, the United States Congress mandated the third week in March as National Poison Prevention Week (P.L. 87-319). National Poison Prevention Week (NPPW) 2020 is March 15th - 21st. This week is a time specially set aside for increasing public awareness about the dangers of poisons and promoting poison prevention throughout the United States. For more information about NPPW, please visit www.aapcc.org.
